Whether you’re looking for Folding Arm Awnings, Retractable Roof Systems, Louvred Roof Systems, Fixed Awnings, External Blinds, Umbrella Range, or Sun Roof Systems for your patio or deck, we have a solution to suit your needs.
Folding Arm Awnings
Folding arm awnings are ideal as a roll away cover for a patio, deck, balcony or commercial applications such as restaurants.
Folding arm awnings protect from the sun, wind and rain while enhancing the look of your outdoor space. They are easy to operate and can be opened or closed in seconds.
Retractable Roof Systems
Retractable roof awnings are a concertina style retractable roof or pergola awning that fold the fabric back in pleats when retracted.
Unlike fixed systems, retractable roofs can be opened and closed as needed, providing shade or rain protection for any outdoor space. Retractable roof awnings are a great option for both home and business owners. In addition to protecting from the sun and rain, retractable roofs can also serve as an attractive design feature for your property.
Louvered Roof Systems
Ozsun opening roof louvres are designed and engineered to Australian wind and design codes, including cyclonic regions.
A louvred roof system is a type of outdoor shading consisting of slanted aluminium blades. The blades can be adjusted to various angles to control the amount of sunlight, rain and heat entering your outdoor living area.
Fixed awnings are not retractable and have a fixed rigid frame. They are more robust than retractable awnings as they are designed to cope.
The advantage of an external blind is that it keeps the sun off the glass and is far more effective at reducing heat than an interior blind.
It works best during the summer months when the sun is at its strongest. An external blind can also help to keep your home cooler in the winter by blocking out drafts. It is a versatile shading solution that can be used all year round.
Our extensive umbrella range includes the Designer umbrella range for patios and decks where strength is required.
The range includes a variety of sizes and designs to suit any outdoor space and can be customised to match your existing furniture. If you’re looking for some outdoor shade ideas for your next event, our team can help you find the perfect solution. We have a range of umbrellas that are perfect for any occasion.
Sun Roof Systems
Designed for commercial and residential projects, sun roof systems can be used in a wide variety of applications for protection from the sun.
Sunroof systems can be used on patios, decks, gardens, and more. They provide excellent protection from harmful UV rays and help keep your home or business cool in the summer.
What type of fabric is used in outdoor shade projects?
Outdoor shade projects are made from waterproof, water resistant, and UV-resistant fabrics. The most common types of fabrics/materials used are:
Used on folding arm awnings, canopy awnings and fixed cafe awnings, the acrylic fabric is designed for outdoor use. It has a water-resistant capability with some specialist acrylics having a waterproof material option such as Dickson Orchestra Max or Docril Nautica.
How does the fabric hold up to UV exposure and weather conditions?
It depends on the type of fabric and product you choose. For example, acrylic materials are highly resistant to UV rays and can withstand high temperatures, making them ideal for use in retractable folding arm awnings. Each fabric has a unique UV rating, and each product has its advantages for preserving fabric, so be sure to chat with our consultants to find out what’s right for you.
PVC fabric is highly robust, waterproof and is often seen on structures like the Sydney Football Stadium. The PVC is stretched over aluminium structures, and provide protection from Sun & extreme weather such as hail storms and other severe wind storms. Our ST Clair fabric range has a proven track record, most notably the Sydney Football stadium which stood proudly in service to the Sydney community for 30 years until it was time for a refurbishment. Our St Clair fabric is now the only fabric we use on our retractable roof systems.
Are engineering permits required for my shade project?
Each municipality has different regulations, so it’s always best to check with your local building department first. However, a permit is not required for retractable roofs and outdoor shades in many cases, as long as the structure meets specific criteria.
For example, in some local councils, the shade must be less than 20 square metres. If you’re unsure whether your project will require a permit, our team at Ozsun can give you some advice; however, contacting your local council is advised.
What do shade systems typically cost?
Several factors will affect the cost of your retractable roof system, including the size, complexity, materials and the company you hire to install it. However, you can get a ballpark estimate for your next project through our online tool. Enter a few details about your project, and we’ll give you an estimated price range.
