External Blind Solutions

Wire Guides

Wire Guided blinds are blinds which have a stylish and modern stainless steel cable which stops the blind from flapping in the breeze.

Zip Screens

With a patented Zip Screen system, you can enjoy your outdoor area all year round! The combination of a high tech solar fabric with a Zip Screen system is the perfect solution to keeping your outdoor area shaded in summer, and to locking in the warmth in winter.

Pivot Arm Awnings

Pivot arm awnings are suitable for windows that face any direction. When the awning is partially extended it provides protection from overhead sun i.e. north facing windows, while still retaining a view to the outside. When the awning is fully extended it covers the entire window and provides protection from sun at low angles i.e. facing east or west. In winter with the awning retracted the window is in full sun.

The advantage of an external blind is that it keeps the sun off the glass and is far more effective at reducing heat than an interior blind. Exterior blinds and awnings can reduce entry of solar energy by up to 80%.

By comparison, solar film or interior blinds typically offer 40% protection – source: CSIRO Division of Building Research. A difference of about 70-75% reduction in cooling requirements is obtained when interior blinds are replaced by an external shading system – source: Assessment of Energy Performance of Window Shading Systems at the Canadian Centre for Housing Technology.
