Provide an outdoor living area utilising retractable awnings or retractable roof system in the leafy Sutherland Shire suburb of Woronora.
Project specifics
The customers’ existing outdoor living area was often too hot to occupy in Summer, but it was the perfect spot to soak up the sun on a sunny winters day. It was important for the client to have something retractable so that they could have the benefit of protection from the sun in Summer, and also allow sun and light into their home during winter.
It can also get quite windy in Woronora, so the versatility, durability and peace of mind were all key factors in the consultation process. We settled on a retractable roof system, which enabled their outdoor entertaining area to be used all year round without the worry of bringing all the outdoor furniture in should there be an unexpected storm travelling up the Woronora river.

This Retractable Roof System at Woronora has a unique feature to enhance the ‘indoor / outdoor feel’.The retractable roof was roof mounted so that fabric stack is hidden above the roof line when retracted. This installation technique not only makes clever use of unused space, but it creates more openness and more skyline for the client when completely retracted.
The end result was the perfect location to laze by the pool with a cocktail without the tell tale signs of the Australian summer sunburn, and the perfect outdoor entertaining area for family birthdays and barbeques.
