Republic Hotel
Project brief
Provide a city outdoor entertaining area in a heritage listed venue at the Republic Hotel.
Project specifics
Ozsun was pleased to be involved with this challenging project for the heritage listed Republic Hotel’s third floor roof top bar. This space is host to Taylor’s roof top bar which is on the corner of Pitt & Bridge street Sydney.
As All of Australia knows, if you want to party, Sydney is where it’s hip and happening and what better place to party, than a roof top bar, where the beautiful summer breeze can float through your hair, when the retractable roof is opened in all its glory.
Boasting an openness off 100sqm, the Sydney skyline never looked so spectacular, allowoing the patron to feel as if they are at a summer back yard party, whilst still exuding the glamour that Sydney city has to offer. The rooftop space is made even more impressive by is leafy living green planter wall against the back drop of Sydney.
Custom made to the unique shape of the roof which was removed for the project the All Seasons retractable roof system was installed on custom steel work which spans the full length of the rooftop area. Operated via integrated dual motors the roof can be opened or closed in a matter of minutes to give the ideal finish to the roof top space.
Lets get technical!
The Republic Hotel Retractable Roof System is 8m wide and extends out 12m. The roof of the Republic Hotel building on the corner of Pitt and Bridge Street, Sydney was removed and replaced with a retractable roof system. This 12m retractable roof system is the largest of it’s type in the Southern Hemisphere. Because the building is not square, the roof system had to be tapered on one side. The roof system is designed with a 3 degree side fall so water runs off into a box gutter on the low side.
